What documents are required to travel to the Bahamas?
When traveling to the Bahamas, you will be required to have a valid government issued passport. If you are not a US citizen, you will be required to have a valid green card, permanent resident card, a valid visa or I-94 from the airline you flew into the US on with a valid government issued passport.

Each person over the age of six exiting the Bahamas will be required to pay a $25.00 per person departure tax. Upon returning to the US, you will be required to declare all items purchased abroad and assessed duty if applicable.

The Bahamas dollar is the legal tender used in the Bahamas, They also will gladly accept American dollars as well as credit cards at various hotels, bars and shops. However, it is best to call ahead to verify, particularly if you will be visiting the “Family Islands” outside of Nassau.
What type of phone/internet services can I expect to receive?
The Bahamas Telephone Communications Corporation (BATELCO) has agreements with AT&T and other cellular carriers. Coverage and rates very depending on where you are. Internet access is good in Nassau and other family islands where tourists are staying, but again, it is a good idea to phone ahead and check with your hotel/hospitality representive.
What type of weather should I expect?
The Bahamas is approximately 700 islands -30 of them inhabited- just east of Miami and extends roughly 500 miles southeasterly in the Atlantic Ocean. With pink coral sand and tropical blue waters, the Bahamas enjoys comfortable temperatures year-round. From May until October, the warmer water temperatures can lift the expectations of thunderstorms and more humid weather conditions. Shorts, sun-dresses, and “easy fitting” clothing typically identifies the dress code. November through April is often punctuated with cooler trade winds and relatively low humidity beckoning ideal weather for outdoor activities.
